Initial consult
During home visits, I will get your medical history, conduct appropriate physical assessments of you and your baby and assess your breastfeeding. Then we will work together to develop a personalized plan to help you reach your breastfeeding goals. Typically lasts 90 min. Included is follow-up advice either on the phone or via email.
Home follow-up
While many issues can be addressed sufficiently in one visit, I’m happy to return to help get you on the proper course.
Classes
All of my classes are taught in the comfort of your on home, and on your schedule. Expecting a child is hard enough, so I’m happy to help make things easier when I can. Cost is dependent on group size. I can accommodate 2 people and on up. Typical range is $40-$100 per person. Get a group of friends and make it a party!
During this class I teach the fundamentals of infant/child CPR, choking, and how to respond to an emergency using an AED(Automated External Defibrillator). I am also available to answer any other household safety concerns that you may have .My goal is to leave everyone comfortable and confident that s/he can respond effectively to an emergency situation. Classes are 1.5-2hrs in length. At the end each participant does receive a digital card as a certified ASHI first aid emergency responder. This class is not for health professionals.
This is a prenatal breastfeeding course to prepare you for breastfeeding. Pumping, breast care, bra needs, pump information, herbal supplements, support groups, and basic how-to tips are all covered. Class will include time for discussion and questions regarding breastfeeding. 1-2hrs depending on discussion.
This is a more comprehensive class that focuses on what to expect during labor and delivery, and also includes breastfeeding information and tips for surviving the first month of coming home. As a labor and delivery nurse I have seen a need for this class as there is often lack of good information covering expectations once a woman steps into the hospital to deliver. I have first hand experience! Class runs 1-2.5 hrs, as always depending on your needs. This class leaves a lot of room for discussion.
Insurance
Though I am not contracted with any specific insurance plan, upon payment for services I will provide you with a detailed “superbill” to submit to your insurance for reimbursement.
Under the Affordable Care Act (ACA) all new health plans must provide certain preventive services without any cost-sharing (no copayment or deductible), including coverage for prenatal and postnatal breastfeeding support and supplies for the duration of breastfeeding. This means that your insurance company is most likely required to provide you with an in-network lactation consultant or if they do not they are required to reimburse you for going out of network.
